Make Your Own Sinus Rinse
Every year when spring or fall rolls around we enjoy the coolness in the air and the blooming of the new flowers or the changing of the colors. We don’t have long to enjoy these seasons though because inevitably our sinuses will start to go crazy and our allergies will hit us hard!
A sinus infection is becoming more and more common with people who suffer a simple cold or allergies and allow it to expound. This is because they do not take the necessary steps to keep the nasal passages clean and free of the mucous that hurts it so bad. You can do one of two things. You can buy a sinus rinse or you can make your own.
- 1/4 tsp. pickling salt
- 1/4 tsp. baking soda
- 8 oz. warm water
- Netty pot
- You can buy a netty pot at most grocery or health stores. These are designed to help you get the rinse inside of your nostrils without making a huge mess and doing it improperly. You will be placing all of your ingredients inside of it.
- Pour the correct amount of warm water into the netty pot. Next you will add the baking soda and pickling salt. Make sure that your measurements are exact. Too much of one ingredient could in fact cause problems in your nasal passages.
- Combine each of these. Once it is made you have to use it immediately. Tilt your head to the left side and place the netty pot into the right nostril. Slowly pour half of the solution inside. When you are done tilt the other way and do the same thing in the left nostril.
- You should do this twice a day until your nose has cleared up. It isn’t pleasant – but it will make you feel much better and will help to clear your head.
